The Guest Writers area is intended for submissions by members, sponsors and other interested writers of pieces about our profession  that are interesting and relevant but not necessarily appropriate for publication in OTR or a similar venue.  The material needs to be related to our profession but does not need to be medical or financial - it can be about other professional issues, life as an underwriter or manager, underwriting humor or satire etc.
CHOLHUA does not compensate writers for the posted material, nor does it copyright it.  You should assume that anything that you submit for the area is 'public domain' material.  You will, of course, be recognized for the submission.  The following general guidelines apply:
     1.  You must submit the material under your own name with full contact information.  Requests to be published anonymously will be considered on a case by case basis, but we must know for certain who you are and how to find you.
     2.  Your submission should be sent electronically to Secretary@cholhua.org   as a  Microsoft Word file along with an optional thumbnail about yourself.  The thumbnail will be posted as page text; the actual submission will be posted as a downloadable file.
     3.  Your opinions as such will not be censored simply because they might be controversial  (we will carry a standard  disclaimer stating that the opinions expressed are those of the author and not CHOLHUA).  However, submissions containing profanity, blatant libel or slander or other potentially actionable material will be refused as will those that have no relevance at all to our profession (again, occupational humor, satire or 'slice of life' material IS acceptable). .
     4.  We do not have the staff needed to peer review articles for scientific validity or to extensively edit poor grammar and spelling.  If you want someone to peer review a medical article, we recommend submitting it to OTR rather than us.  Also, while we may correct an obvious misspelling, we will not extensively edit your piece (problems noted under the previous paragraph will cause a submission to be rejected, not edited).  The responsibility for proper grammar, spelling and clear thinking is YOURS.
     5.  Since the submissions will be posted as downloadable files, there is no minimum or maximum length limit.  You are reminded, however, that the longer your piece is, the fewer readers are likely to finish it unless it is a ripping good read.
     6.   The submission of plagiarized or copyrighted material is prohibited. CHOLHUA will not knowingly post any content fitting either description.
     7.  Any questions about a possible submission should be referred to the Secretary.  The email is shown above, or you may call Bill Tilford at (773) 267-6548
     8.  This Guest Writers area is not intended for "infomercials" or other overt or stealth advertising.
     9.  CHOLHUA reserves the right to reject any material submitted.
